As its name implies, this little and free program allows you to record audio files. It links automatically to your computer's soud card and lets you choose your preferred recording device in case you have more than one.
The recording quality is pretty good. The program has a built-in audio player, so you can check your recordings immediately. The program stores the resulting file in the .avraw file type; nevertheless, you can export it to another format. The default exporting formats are .ape and .mp3. If you want to export your sounds to another format, then you will need to install AV Audio converter, which is manufactured by the same company and is also free. Besides this accompanying program, you can add some other software that can enhance your use of AV Sound Recorder, such as AV Audio Editor, AV, CD Grabber, and other. Most of them are free, but others are paid-based.
An interesting built-in program is AV Media Player Morpher. Once you have recorded your sound files, you can modify them by using its funcionalities. For example, you can select a specific effect, such as "Robot voice", "Echo", or even make them as if they were recorded by a chipmunk or an alien. The only drawback is that you can't save the audio you morphed with this program.
All in all, it is a good recording program which can be complemented with several add-ins.
